The unique access to whales at Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary invites scientific inquiry on a wide range of topics relating to humpback whale biology, conservation, and management. We encourage researchers to conduct their work in the sanctuary. Sanctuary researchers and staff may be able to collaborate, advise, or help facilitate your work. Please contact us – we’d love to learn about your science and assist or collaborate as appropriate.

Science priorities for the sanctuary are developed with guidance from our management plan and by emerging issues affecting Hawaii’s whale population.
