Visitor Centers Closed

For the health and safety of our guests, volunteers, and employees, and as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the visitor centers will be closed until further notice. We will continue to reassess the situation. We understand this closure is an inconvenience for visitors, and we apologize. Our top priority is the health of our guests who come to learn about the National Marine Sanctuary System, as well as the staff and volunteers who support our visitor centers.

HIHWNMS Visitor Center

Sanctuary Visitor Center – Kīhei, Maui

Located in Kīhei on the south shore of Maui, the visitor center is an ideal spot to learn about the marine environment and even see humpback whales breaching. This scenic beachfront location at the foot of Haleakalā has views of Kahoʻolawe, Lānaʻi, and West Maui looking across the waters of the sanctuary. The visitor center features exhibits, interactive displays, and weekly programs for the whole family.

Kaua'i ocean discovery center

Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery – Līhu‘e, Kaua‘i

On Kaua‘i, a new ocean discovery facility is centrally located at Kukui Grove Center in Līhu‘e, Kauai's largest shopping center. It features exhibits, displays, monthly lectures, and a variety of family activities.
